Pining Toubkal in the Earthquake Map

Versión en castellano

For those who have visited Toubkal in the high Atlas and want to know how close was the epicenter to that area and how badly affected the area was, I have blended two maps together trying to answer myself those questions. First a map I got from BBC site indicating the severity of the telluric movement (map 1), then a google map with the names I know from my own trekking to the peak (map 2).

Toubkal, Imlil were in the strong hit area of the quake

Based on that blending the Imlil and the villages around the Toubkal just escape the severe and very strong sections of the map but were still into the strong zone of the quake. Be mindful of donating to the Red Cross if it is something in your reach.

Tercer día // Day 3 (English version below the map)

El plan original Hoy es el cumpleaños de Eduardito.  ¡Feliz cumpleaños sobrino!   Seguramente seguimos sin conexión a internet , de manera que  no le podemos llamar y  seguimos alimentando este blog con supuestos del viaje.  Hoy será un día largo .  Después del desayuno  remaremos un poco y  nos tocará cargar la canoa para entrar al lago  Kasakowog .  Lo atravesaremos  completo  y nos tocará  cargar los corotos  una vez más  para llegar al lago Mc  Alpine  donde pasaremos la noche.  A estas alturas ya debemos estar preguntándonos ¿por qué nos metimos en esto, no era más divertido ir a una playa y quedarnos allí?   Today is  Eduardito's  birthday. El Roraima y la maldición de John

¿ Han oído hablar sobre la maldición de John? O currió en diciembre de 1998 en el Roraima. Fue la primera vez que lo subí. Ya había subido antes al   Kukenán   , pero nunca al Roraima. Ambas excursiones se parecen. Los tepuyes están uno al lado del otro, son de altura similar, pero cada excursión es una experiencia única. En ambos casos partimos desde Caracas en un solo vehículo y rodamos los casi mil doscientos kilómetros en un solo día hasta llegar a la entrada de la Gran Sabana. Cerca del fuerte Luepa pasamos la noche en un hotelito de carretera antes de continuar nuestro camino a Paraitepuy al día siguiente. En esta ocasión fuimos Ricardo, su esposa Camila, Gabriel y yo.
